About Us
At DC Automotive, we are passionate about providing expert auto repair with honesty, integrity, and top-tier service. Family-owned and operated, we started in 2019 in a home garage before moving to our current location in January 2020. With five bays, we began by working on modern cars, but two years ago, we expanded our expertise to include classic muscle cars and trucks. As an ASE Certified Master Technician and NAPA AutoCare Center, we take pride in delivering high-quality repairs while treating our customers like family. Beyond the shop, we give back to the community by sponsoring local car shows and participating in Mustaches for Kids to support charitable causes.
Meet the Owner
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by cars. My love for mechanics started as a child, helping my dad clean spark plugs on our old Ford Maverick and working with my Uncle Thom and Grandpa on car repairs. My passion grew through years of hands-on experience, from fixing model cars and neighborhood bikes to working at Jerry’s Service II in high school, where my skills were put to the test on real repairs.
Although I pursued a degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics and Computers at Martin Luther College, my heart was always in the garage. After teaching for two years, I realized my true calling was in automotive repair. My journey took me through Chrysler dealerships, Meyer’s Auto Service, MIDAS, and Tuffy’s, where I honed my skills and earned my ASE Master Technician and Undercar Specialist certifications. Along the way, I learned the value of honesty, customer service, and the satisfaction of solving tough mechanical challenges.
With the unwavering support of my wife, Tarah, and our two daughters, I founded DC Automotive to provide reliable, honest, and expert auto repair. For me, every repair is like solving a puzzle—I love the challenge, and I love seeing a car leave our shop running like new. Our goal is to treat every customer like family, ensuring they drive away with confidence in their vehicle and in the service they received.
Tarah met Tim in college. He was a Senior, she was a Freshman. They got married in 2001, right after her Junior year. She graduated Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in December of 2003 with a degree in Music Education. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Omaha and have made it their true home.
During 2003, quite a few music programs were being shut down in school systems across the country, so Tarah spent 10 years in retail and sales while she worked on building her flute and piano studio. In 2014, she was able to quit her corporate job and focus on her flute and piano studio.
She currently teaches flute and piano with 33 students, plays in various ensembles and musicals, and is the choir director at church. In 2025, she was elected as Vice President of the Omaha Music Teachers Association. Here is Tarah's website: thequarternotes.com
You'll see Tarah occasionally around the shop, helping out here and there when needed. Besides music, she enjoys hanging out with the Schoell kids, volunteering, doing needlecrafts while watching sci-fi, walking, antiquing, and gardening.
